About Rahul Dravid
Born on January 11, 1973, Rahul Dravid is a former Indian cricketer and best known as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Often referred to as “The Wall” for his strong defence against opponent’s bowling attack, his versatile performances over his professional career have earned him a permanent place among cricketing legends.
Early Life and Career
Rahul Dravid was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh but grew up in Bangalore, Karnataka. He began playing cricket at an early age and represented Karnataka at the youth level. His impressive performance attracted national selectors’ attention and he was selected in India A team for its tour to England where his commendable performance opened doors for International Cricket.
International Career
Dravid made his international debut for India on June 20, 1996, against England and showed fantastic display of technical soundness which became hallmark of his batting style throughout his career.
Over the next decade, Dravid established himself as one of the most dependable players earning praise both nationally and globally. In addition to being an extraordinary batsman, he also proved himself to be a formidable wicket-keeper when required.
Captaincy
